Your first visit to Modwena Dental

Why your first appointment sets the tone

A lot of dental practices rush new patients through. You get twenty minutes, a quick look, and a leaflet on your way out. We’ve never thought that was good enough.

When you come to Modwena Dental for the first time, we want to actually get to know you - your dental history, your concerns, your goals, and what you’d like to feel confident about when you smile. That’s the foundation of everything we do from that point on.

Whether you haven’t visited a dentist in a few years, you’re feeling nervous about what we might find, or you’re simply looking for a practice that takes things seriously - you’re in the right place.

What happens at your new patient appointment in Stoke-on-Trent?

Your appointment is dedicated clinical time - not shared, not rushed. Here’s what we cover:

  • A full assessment of your teeth, gums, and soft tissues
  • Digital X-rays where clinically needed
  • Detailed intraoral scans where necessary for a precise, up-to-date picture of your mouth - more accurate than traditional moulds and completely comfortable
  • An open conversation about any concerns, questions, or treatments you’re curious about
  • A personalised treatment plan - based on what you actually need, not a one-size-fits-all approach

Patients often tell us they’re surprised by how thorough it is. There’s real value in this appointment - not just a quick look and a wave goodbye.

If we find something that needs attention - whether that’s a filling, some hygiene treatment, or something more involved - we’ll walk you through your options clearly and without pressure.

Frequently asked questions about new patient appointments

How do I register as a new patient at Modwena Dental?

Fill in our short enquiry form and we’ll call you back to get you booked in. Alternatively, give us a ring on 01782 844 720 and we’ll sort everything over the phone.

Do I need to bring anything to my first appointment?

If you have any previous dental records or X-rays, it can be useful to bring those along - but it’s not essential. Just bring yourself, and we’ll take care of the rest.

What if I haven’t been to the dentist in a long time?

That’s more common than you might think, and we won’t judge you for it. Our job is to help you get to a good place with your oral health, wherever you’re starting from. We’ll always be straightforward with you - but never make you feel bad about where things are at.

Do you see nervous or anxious patients?

Absolutely. Several members of our team have a particular interest in helping nervous patients feel at ease. We’ll always explain what we’re doing before we do it, work at your pace, and never rush you through anything. If you feel like you might benefit from sedation, we can discuss that as an option too.

Can I get NHS treatment as a new patient?

We offer both NHS and private care at Modwena Dental. At your first appointment, your dentist will talk you through what’s available to you and help you understand all of your options clearly.

What happens after my first appointment?

You’ll leave with a clear picture of your oral health and a personalised treatment plan. If further treatment is recommended, your dentist will explain your options and our treatment coordinator will help with next steps, costs, and finance - with no pressure to decide anything on the spot.
