There are a lot of dental practices to choose from. Here's what makes Modwena Dental different - and why patients keep coming back, and keep recommending us to the people they care about.

Over a century of dentistry on Liverpool Road. That's not something many practices can say.
Since 1920, Modwena Dental has been looking after patients in Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding area - through generations of families, decades of change, and a dental landscape that looks very different today from how it did when we first opened our doors.
What hasn't changed is the way we treat people. The same warmth, the same commitment to getting things right, and the same belief that a dental practice should be somewhere you actually want to go - not somewhere you dread.
This is one of the things we're most proud of, and it genuinely sets us apart.
Our teeth straightening treatment is supported by Modwena Orthodontics, our sister specialist orthodontic practice. Having that level of expertise behind your treatment - rather than a general dentist offering orthodontics as a side service - means your care is planned and overseen at the highest clinical level available in the field.
For patients considering Invisalign, fixed braces, or any other form of teeth straightening, this matters enormously. Complex cases, multi-disciplinary treatment planning, and the kind of results that stand the test of time - that's what specialist-led orthodontics delivers.
We're also an Invisalign Diamond provider - one of the highest provider statuses Invisalign awards, recognising consistently high volumes of successful treatment. It's a status that reflects real experience and real results.

A lot of practices say they offer comprehensive care. At Modwena Dental, we mean it.
Under one roof, we offer:
That breadth of in-house expertise means your treatment can be planned holistically - not as a series of disconnected appointments at different practices. It means less time, less hassle, and better outcomes.
We've invested heavily in the technology we use - not for the sake of it, but because the right tools lead to better diagnosis, better planning, and better results for patients.
At Modwena Dental, we use:
Having all of this technology on-site means your care is faster, more accurate, and more joined-up - with no waiting for results from external providers and no gaps in clinical information.
iTero digital scanner
A precise 3D scan of your teeth and bite, replacing uncomfortable traditional impressions. Used across orthodontic treatment planning, implant work, and cosmetic dentistry.
OPG and lateral ceph X-rays
Full-mouth and profile imaging carried out in-house, meaning results are available immediately and nothing needs to be sent elsewhere.
Friendly, family
focused approach

We've worked together for a long time. Some members of our team have been here for over 16 years - and it shows in the way we work together and the way we look after patients.
When you come to Modwena Dental, you're not seeing a different face every time. You build a relationship with your dentist, your hygienist, and the people at the front desk - and that continuity makes a real difference, particularly for patients who find dental visits difficult.
Our team includes dentists with postgraduate qualifications and special interests covering everything from sedation and nervous patient care to root canal treatment, cosmetic dentistry, restorative work, and orthodontics. Whatever you need, there's someone in our team with a genuine interest and expertise in it.
Dental anxiety is real - and we don't dismiss it or rush past it.
Several members of our team have a particular interest in treating anxious and nervous patients, and we've built our whole approach around making people feel genuinely comfortable. We work at your pace. We explain everything before we do it. We never make you feel judged for how long it's been or how you're feeling.
For patients who need more support, IV sedation is available in-house - giving you the option to feel completely relaxed throughout your treatment, with no memory of the procedure.
Jane, one of our patients, put it better than we could:
"I have been a dentist and especially hygienist phobe since a bad experience 10 years ago. So glad I have been able to join this practice - a fantastic experience. Everyone so helpful and friendly, always checking you are ok. Still a little nervous but I have my next appointments already booked. Definitely recommended especially for dentist phobes like me."

We believe good dental care should be accessible - and we've worked hard to make sure Modwena Dental is a practice where everyone feels welcome.

We want the cost of treatment to feel manageable - not like a barrier. That's why we offer a range of flexible payment options:
Our treatment coordinator will walk you through all the options at your consultation so you can make the right decision for your budget without feeling pressured.

Yes - we offer both NHS and private care at Modwena Dental. Your dentist will explain what's available to you under each at your appointment. Where NHS treatment isn't available for a particular procedure, we'll always be transparent about private costs upfront.
The best way to find out is to come in. Your new patient appointment gives you a proper introduction to the practice, the team, and the standard of care we offer - without committing to anything beyond that first visit.
Yes - we have a wheelchair accessible entrance, accessible reception and waiting areas, ground floor surgeries, and a wheelchair accessible toilet. If you have any specific access requirements, please let us know when you book and we'll make sure everything is arranged for you.
Our teeth straightening is supported by Modwena Orthodontics, our sister specialist orthodontic practice. Specialist Orthodontist is a protected title - it means the clinicians behind your treatment have completed additional postgraduate training and are registered with the GDC as specialists. Not every practice offering orthodontic treatment has that level of expertise behind it.
We work hard to keep waiting times to a minimum. New patient appointments, hygiene visits, and consultations are generally available within a reasonable timeframe. For urgent or emergency care, we do our best to see patients as quickly as possible - often the same day or the next working day.
Yes - we welcome patients of all ages, including children. Getting children into good habits with regular dental visits early on is something we actively encourage, and our team are experienced at making younger patients feel at ease.
