About Modwena Dental in Stoke-on-Trent

We've been looking after patients on Liverpool Road since 1920. A lot has changed in over a century of dentistry - but the way we treat people hasn't.

More than a hundred years of care in the community

Modwena Dental has been part of Stoke-on-Trent since 1920 - and that kind of history doesn't happen by accident. It happens because patients keep coming back, keep recommending us to their families, and keep trusting us with their care year after year.

We're proud of that. And we don't take it for granted.

The practice has evolved enormously over the decades - in the treatments we offer, the technology we use, and the team we've built. But the things that matter most have stayed exactly the same. We take our time. We explain things properly. We treat every patient as an individual. And we make sure you feel genuinely comfortable when you walk through the door.

A specialist-led practice with a family feel

What makes Modwena Dental different isn't just the clinical expertise on offer - though that's considerable. It's the way the whole team works together, and the way that comes across to patients.

Many of our team have worked together for over 16 years. We know each other well, we trust each other clinically, and that translates into a practice that feels warm and relaxed rather than cold and clinical. Patients notice it from the first visit - and it's one of the things they mention most when they recommend us to others.

At the clinical level, we're led by Richard Cully, a Recognised Specialist Orthodontist and founder of Modwena Orthodontics, and Edward Cully, our principal dentist with a strong interest in implant dentistry and non-invasive techniques. Alongside them is a team of experienced associate dentists, hygienists, and dental therapists - each with their own areas of interest and expertise.

Everything about us, in one place

Proud to be an inclusive, accessible practice

We believe good dental care should be available to everyone - and we've made sure Modwena Dental reflects that.

We're a wheelchair accessible practice with ground floor surgeries, an accessible reception and waiting area, and a wheelchair accessible toilet. We're an LGBTQ+ friendly practice and a transgender safe space. We offer both NHS and private treatment. And we have a team that's experienced in looking after patients who find dental visits difficult - including in-house IV sedation for nervous patients.

Whoever you are, whatever your situation - you're welcome here.

Serving patients across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire since 1920

We see patients from right across the region - from Hanley and Newcastle-under-Lyme to Shelton, Hartshill, Penkhull, and Trent Vale, as well as from wider Staffordshire, Derbyshire, and Leicestershire. Some have been coming to us for decades. Others found us recently and are just getting started.

Either way, we're glad you're here.
